HULA HOOP, NOT JUST A HOOP

THE LIGHT IN A COORDINATED PROJECT

‘The Residences’ is the renovation of a stunning 23-storey tower,
in the heart of downtown Auckland, New Zealand.
The installation of HULA HOOP,
protagonist on the materic wall of the grand lobby, embodies the vision
of the project, designed by Peddle Thorp Architects and Sarsfield Brooke,
to give the residences (149 apartments, 11 penthouses) and common areas a coordinate image of high aesthetic level
and tangible experiential value: achieved through the inclusion of artwork, fine finishes, and dedicated lighting.

“Hula Hoop is an ancestral circle, a blend of memory and modernity, which contains
within its diameter light, emanating from a thin perimeter just 25 mm high: a grazing light that integrates with the surfaces, creating an imaginative game between reality

and illusion.”
